The UTMC Tattoo Thread!

Postby Priest » Sun Jun 21, 2009 7:14 pm

Hey! I'm an arteest by trade again, so I get to post in this forum now. Sweet.

I finally scanned a bunch of my portfolio that was all on SLR/film. When I quasi-retired, I was still using a Canon EOS SLR, and real digital photos were kind of on the way for me.

I thought I might put them here for your viewing pleasure and just plain fun. And I will use this thread to post new developments and pichers as the opportunity arises. Like today, for instance. I got to rock out a big piece on a Marine dude. Best kind - dude brings only a mental image, gives me full control of the design, and while big, it's not so big that I can't finish it in 4 hours. Happy client, happy Priest, totally baller tattoo:

<a href="http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e95/yurasuka/tattoo/?action=view¤t=M16tattoo014.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e95/yurasuka/tattoo/M16tattoo014.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And now, let the bandwidth thievery begin. All of this stuff was done between about 1999 and 2003, when I put down the machines and walked away until now. I have no photos of stuff previous to that time period anymore:

You make me want to fly back to the east coast to get new ink done... I might just do that!

Any time, man. Outside of DOOM, I don't foresee myself taking any time off this year, so I'll be around. :)

Thanks all.

Time for UTMC input:

Below are two links to two different websites I have in the works.

The first (called The Red Site) is being developed by my buddy who is a pro. It's currently on my server in hidden draft, and he did a couple pages to look at (if you click it, I think it goes to a mock gallery).

The second (The Black Site) is a DIY job from some company that I fiddled together myself. It is just a free trial to see it in use, then I would have to pay to get it attached to my domain.

Now, I know the UTMC will naturally gravitate to black things, but give them both a look.

What do we think?

very impressive work !!

for the website, I recently discovered simpleviewer
http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/

it's free and I find it rather classy and the easies way to put up a gallery so far. all you need is a text editor to change parameters, then call give your images a name and number et voilà, just copy paste the code line with a different number if you need to add/ change an image.
I'm not really from around here.

The Red Site is the winner. Although I will be 86ing the "Historical Bad Guy" background motif (Stalin, Napoleon, et al.) in lieu of darker-tinged Biblical renaissance art (Inferno, Paradise Lost, etc.)

Classy. That's me.

Some fun from today. I started a half-sleeve of Navy-themed stuff on a pretty kewl dewd. He had an anchor sitting in space, so we are going to do an all black-and-gray thing to suit. Very cool, big traditional ideas done my way (which is kind of tweaked and in-your-face. I don't like subtle). Just outlining todat, back in 4 weeks to hammer it into place...

While your other posts about your prior job were thought-provoking and funny, I much prefer the vibe and pics coming from McKnuckle Tatzbro venture. Good to see a friend find a calling that works. Keep on kicking ass, young man, keep on kicking ass.

Not all of them have to be big and mean and wacky. Girlie gots herself some purdy flowers today (butterfly wasn't me).

So I'm back to logging in and whilst I've kept somewhat appraised of the situation concerning the kickass giant Ragnarok thing that's happening in the Denver cell's backyard, I had missed this thread.

So first off, gorgeous work man, very impressive.

Second, what do we have to bribe you with to bring a gun out next year?

/RM

PS: The websites look great as well, although true to form I dig the gallery layout on the black one more.

So first off, gorgeous work man, very impressive.

Second, what do we have to bribe you with to bring a gun out next year?

.

A. Welcome back

B. Thank you.

C. There is an equal chance that I would bring along a live baby Tyrannosaurus in my sidecase. That should give you a reference as to the improbability of such a thing.

No, but that's the best compliment I've had in a long time. Thanks for that. Timothy Hoyer is a fantastic tattooer and artist, and one of a handful of guys I would call an influence.

New website updates!

I got some new screenshots of the site from my guy. Awesome. The background are has been changed from the Historical Bad Guys to the more aesthetic Dante's Inferno/Bosch/Biblical Art theme, and done nicely at that. Love it. Some title changes and such too. The example thumbnails are not my work, obviously. It seems he just used the absolute worst tattooery he could find on the web to hold the place until all of my files are there. Funny.

Loving this so far. Should be launched after he gets back from a mototbike trip to South Carolina. I'm stoked.

(Click make big, I think).
