Some good press for my friend this month. This piece is pretty well documented, and the tattoo rags are getting their hands on it. Nice. Good press makes me happy. And she didn't call me a douchebag in the article :D

I've been waiting on posting this until it was completed, but I figured I'd add my own contribution to this thread.
9 hours in total, but I'm very pleased and proud of the result:

Image

I have pictures of the progression that I can post, but I think the final result is the most stunning. :D

Since I've had large prints running since right after lunch, I decided to take in some history, namely this entire thread from beginning to end. Priest, that is some amazing work. All of it, every last flesh-ripping millimeter. If you ever come back to the Seattle Tattoo show or convention or whatever they call it, I am going to have to on the schedule for some proper UTMC ink.

I dated a girl with a similar rose tattoo just abve the beltline. When she'd get drunk she'd tell people "If you like the rose, you should see the whole bush." She was a lot of fun when she was drunk...
BTW Groove you are a tease. Good job on landing a pretty woman, though.

Am I allowed to revive this as a zombie thread?

I've been kicking around the idea for several years to get a chest piece that combines an anatomical heart with an old Triumph, chosen both because of the similarity in shape between the heart and the pre-unit, and due to the ease of finding old Trumpy adverts with the cut-away engine sketch.

Last night, we finally got started on it.

Getting the merger just right in Photoshop before we start:

and where we ended the night:

I have my follow-up appointment on December 13 to touch it up and start on coloring.
There, I said it.

Glad to help. While I'm here, how about a better picture, without the plastic?

As the swelling and redness go down, I'm kind of missing the extra color. I may have him add a bit more red shading in the muscle area when I go back to wrap up shading and add color.
There, I said it.

I had planned on swinging by Black Label on my way home from DOOM but didn't have the time or funds for additional ink. Still want ye olde bombs-n-bars done at some point.

Thanks! As this is only my second tattoo, and much larger and more detailed than the first, I quickly realized I don't really have a good grasp on exactly how long tattooing takes, and it's looking like this one is going to end up costing me right around $1k by the time it's done... Not huge problem for me at the moment (wasn't going to start this if I wasn't sure I could afford to finish it), but certainly giving a lot more thought to the possibility of starting on a sleeve. Hell, I waited about 4 years to flesh out this idea, I'm sure the other ideas I'm kicking around will do ok to wait a bit as well.

I lived with a guy that worked for a tattoo shop, so I have too many impromptu tattoos. Most I don't mind but a few take up some valuable real estate that I would rather have available. Good on you for waiting! They cost a hell of a lot more to remove than to put on.

An acquaintance of mine used a belt sander with 40gr belt and told the ER he had caught his foot in the cord...cost him $300 for his deductible and took the pin-up girl tattoo of his ex right off to the bone...

Someone once told me that the only two names one should ever get tattooed are their mother and their children. Seems like good advice to me (and I'm working on the latter).
