Arguing about taste is ...
I think soccer is probably one of the most pointless wastes of time and resources in modern culture. Like any organized spectator sport, actually.
I also have no shame admitting that I greatly enjoy the Olsen-gang (Olsenbanden) movies. Okay, you 'mericans won't know those. Ah, I have no shame admitting that I enjoyed the Total Recall remake. ZERO writing, really, apart from the set piece. Note that I'm using the singular here, the whole movie was one big set-piece, sound and fury, 118 mindless minutes worth. A bowel movement is more intellectually stimulating. But, while I watched it, it was fun. I won't go out of my way to see it again, far from it. But I enjoyed it. There, go judge me for it.
I will go see the new Mad Max movie at some point. I will make up my own damn mind whether it's worth enjoying. Whether I do, or not, and whether it's got good writing, or doesn't, is entirely besides the point, as is anybody else's opinion of it.
If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

I said I have a big stick.

I'm going to start another thread to share my collection of links on the film. This one was too strident and ended up being provocative.

I was encouraged to see it on the Big Screen. Did just that on Monday night, viewing my first 3D movie, with sounds coming from here and there, and greasy popcorn, and a theater almost to myself. Yeah, I don't get out much.

Except for the blatant guitar 3D gimmick, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sorry for watching it.

George Miller is not a fan of 3d apparently, didn't film it for 3d and considers the 2d version to be the definitive one (wait, no, that's probably the black and white/silent cut he demanded, but no one's seen that yet). Flaming doof guitar looks sufficiently awesome in two dimensions given large enough screen :)

Yeah, the guitar thing was so agonizingly obvious that M and I actually looked at each other and laughed at the time. (We saw in 2D for a variety of reasons, not least of which someone suggested here.)

I watched it last night in the comfort of my bed.

Watched it last night (yeah, I had hoped to cath the dollar theaters but was too late) and deliberately avoided this thread till I had. Checked it this morning and was sorely disappointed. WTF boys grow up, whatever was said is done. I had really hoped for some lively discussion of this film, guess that shit ain't happening.
