It has become quieter than it once was over the last four years or so. The off-season was traditionally quieter, also.
But I get the impression, when something DOES get posted, replies happen. People check in.

I just can't really get into the Facebook format for conversations I'd like to be able to revisit at some point. Forum format is very much my preference. Guess that makes me one of the old guys now.

Yeah, likewise. FB is a useful tool, but it's too spastic and uncontrollable. I'd nuke my account there but... *sigh*

No Twitter, Instagram, or any of that other shit for me, tho. Screw that. I have enough trouble with personal bandwidth nowadays...

It was definitely one of the reasons my wife was ok with me getting mine. My boys are 5 and 6 now, still just small enough to squeeze into the tub together. My CSC side car is much roomier (easier to fit them both), but I really hate having it hooked up to the Venture.

I keep trying to get back, but the toddler never sleeps. Occasionally I get a bit of spare and catch up with family or ride like hell (in ability, not ferocity) for a few hours. I never thought I'd be remembering my thirties as a decade of leisure, but forties are a ton of bricks to the head.

On the good side, the future of motorcycle culture that we always hoped for is happening everywhere now. If folx aren't on here as much, might be because out there has become pretty damn cool. Interesting and exciting bikes all over, cool rallies and shows with great music and food. Times have changed since the days of "biker" rallies, trailer queen shows, bbq hot dogs and endless plays of jethro tull and allman brothers. The motorcycle culture is like some kind of crazy wet dream now, and I kinda like our new hipster overlords (and they seem to think we're old school cool). Our Mohawks may have bald spots, our bikes might be too purposeful, our clothes might be plain and our accessories out of date; but I assure you given a head start of ten minutes of conversation I could get fed and drunk for free at any gear fest.

I'm no fan of bookface, it's that proverbial cliff that your parents warned you your friends would all jump off. Yep, like you guys I'm trying to hang on to the edge while still getting in the group photo of everyone plunging to their doom. No dad, I wouldn't jump off the cliff if all of my friends did, I'd stay up here, what the hell? What kind of a question is that to pose to a child? Why the hell would all of my friends jump off a cliff? Our dads knew Facebook was coming, that's why they stocked the garage with motorcycles, tools, beer and porno magazines.

Things will pick up again here in time I have no doubt. Once everyone gets sick of being tracked, fed advertisements, arguing over bullshit drama and uses up every "like" they care to give. That's the thing with that cliff all of your friends jump off, it's not that far to fall and it won't kill you. Some are just quicker at climbing back up the mountain than others.
They swore it was the correct one, but swearing doesn't make a sprocket fit where it doesn't want to. --WeAintFoundShit

Wait till they are old enough for teams and school choir, and such.
Since we have swim team, baseball, cheer, basketball, choir, scouts, maybe football, and soon track and cross country I don't think I've been on a bike outside of the yard four months. Literally every day there is a practice or a game or a meeting to transport someone to.
I think a sidecar is the only answer.

Gear them up and throw them on the pillion. My kid loves it, his little peeps give him veritably instant badass credit for it, and despite being the spawn of rocket surgeon atheists and grades ahead in mathematics and sciences, his academic demeanor has yet to produce an issue with his peers...I attribute this very much to the fuckitol attitude he has gotten from motorcycling. The fringe benefits have been cool too. last week we were fishing at a friends and not doing well from the shore, I ran up to the shop to see if there was a john-boat or something, and found a one seat hunting kayak. I got half way back to the pond to hear yelled from the 7 year old "where's the boat?"
"They don't have a flat boat bud, just a one person kayak. There wont be a seat for you"
And in the exacting pragmatic tone of his father responds with the statement, not question "so." (unspoken get the fucking boat and figure it out)
He spent the next two hours being paddled around like the queen of goddamn sheeba, with his ass squeezed into the gear bin on the back (basically a pillion).

We forgot his shin-guards going to one soccer practice, so he rocked his Thor leg armor while sucking at soccer no more than any other practice (he's really not good).

Yeabut, I'm ferrying a pair of them. We collected the whole set. Rarely do they both not have someplace to be. They are both apparently at a very social age but not old enough to drive. It'll level out at some point.
Plus the wife kind of freaks at them in the pillion.

My business has taken off, my kids are requiring more attention, and I had to buy new computers (new OS all'round) etc. I own two bikes and have ridden both of them a total of 400' this year, from the shop so I could sweep, and back again. I haven't even registered them this year.
I might be working in NYC next month, so there's the very real possibility I won't be riding at all this season. I can still peck out a few words here and there.
