W00t! Podling is a wee lass (with a bit of a baby buddha belly, so we go a bit larger on clothes, 18-24mos/2T), however, we stay away from pink and frills. Would love some Triumph or motorcycle themed stuff if you have any. But anything that's not pink will help us out.

@ red: if Jaeger has some stuff to send, we will then send it on to you when Podling outgrows them ... and I have a few items of ours that could send as well that she's already outgrown.

Excellent ultrasound image!

I get joy by imagining her hacking that photo into her high school yearbook!

When that time arrives, please give her that suggestion from me!

She has arrived!

1/14/2014
6lbs 11oz
21 inches

The RedQueen and I are doing well. Tired but doing well. The wee one (I haven't come up with a clever nickname) is healthy,
all levels and tests were good. However, she is cluster feeding like crazy. Breast milk, man that stuff must really get a hold of you. One helluva drug.

I have already leveled up to Diaper Removal and Disposal Tech Second Class and had my ceremonial urine baptism.

Here she is, giving the world the finger.

Congrats!!!

You are home by now I believe, and the initial wash of pheromones is wearing off. I'm gonna take the Devil's side here and admit outright, I don't like babies. The Renchlette, around age 2, turned into this awesome little kid who is my best buddy now. Renchita, still 10 months, much if the time is tolerable only because I know, eventually, she won't be a baby. Don't get me wrong, I Love my daughters, but as babies...meh. At best.

That depressing little nugget aside, should you find yourself veering towards my thinking (you won't, you're a much nicer guy than me  ), google Dadholes. You'll feel better.

I am very happy for you!

Sometimes I get sad that I never had kids of my own, but stepfathering has been awesome. I wonder if it's because I am not their biological father, didn't hold them as newborns, that I am happy to see them grow up, become women, and cheer them on to every new stage. Or maybe my own dad set a good example of fathering without always wanting his kids to stay younger.

Congrats!

May you enjoy the delights of the infant stage that others apparently never quite embraced ... be reminded that it is actually an all-too-brief stage of development, and once she's mobile, life gets really interesting! I heartily recommend getting a BabyBjorn or similar (if you haven't already) ... great for bonding, keeping the wee bairn happy, and giving you the ability to get stuff done by freeing up two hands.

ALSO, although never did get anything from Jaeger, if you PM me your address I have a couple moto-themed onsies/shirts would be happy to send to you!

D'oh! Sorry, we were keeping all our crap for the second Jägerkind -- Red's timing was just better. ;P

I also charge Red with passing the UTMC onesie along to someone else! Let's keep it going! (And thanks to Vespalina for making it in the first place!)

Thanks everyone!

We're adjusting fairly well. She was pretty incosolable for the second and third night due to rising Bilirubin levels and some breast feeding difficulties. Thankfully, the Bilirubin levels have dropped and she's doing much better.

I expected a "holy shit" moment but really, it just feels normal.

Awww! She's adorable - glad the addition of a tiny human being wholly dependent upon you for everything feels normal!

Did you receive an arseload of itty bitty baby socks? If so, you can put them to actual use: put them on her hands so she can't scratch her face. That way you don't have to use the cuffed shirts/onsies, especially if she's warm enough to not need long sleeves. :-)

Thankfully, she got her mother's looks, not mine!

We did get a lot of baby socks and even some mittens. However, Lil' Red doesn't seem have the urge to slash at her face like a mental patient but boy does she pinch.

Just wait! baby finger nails grow quick and they don't have to be trying to do it to end up scratching their face/etc. Podling tended to flail at her face/eyes a bit, so the sock mittens were a necessity for about the first 4-5 months. :-)

Avoid/minimize nappy rash in the first place ... do NOT use wipes when its only wet (its the wipes themselves and the reaction between peepee and poop that irritate the skin). Podling is almost 2 and we still haven't finished the one tube of Boudreau's that I got before she was born. Nappy rash tends to be more likely if you have a particularly poopy day. Also, if her bum gets really irritated, try using a warm damp washcloth instead of a wipe.
