LOGIN ISSUES
Because I've presently got technical incompetences with the board, password resets presently do not work automatic like.
If you can't login, click here please.
Show
If you have any problem logging in, please don't bother waiting and get in touch. Email right to the usual address (admin at...), use the contact form (bottom of index and most other pages), post in the Midget Circus, or message me directly on Facebook.
I should get the message within a few hours, but under rare circumstances, it might take me a day.

If you can login no problem, but you wish to avoid problem, try checking the "Remember Me" box where you login. I've meddled with the settings there, so even if you return here only once every couple of weeks, it should remember you fine. Provided you have cookies enabled.

If it won't remember you, and you want to be sure any failure to remember is actually such and not just an oops, please read the following (click the bar to make it "show").
Important infos about cookies
Show
To be remembered, you must have cookies enabled in your browser. Some people prefer using "private" browsing mode - which precludes cookies being placed on your device in the first place.
Some people use regular browsing mode, but may have chosen to disable all cookies in their settings. Sometimes, these people will end up tearing their hair out because a lot of websites just don't work at all, like many online stores, as many e-commerce platforms don't do bugger all without using cookies.
Me, I've got "Self-Destructing Cookies" plugins in my various browsers. Which lets me accept all cookies everywhere, smug in the knowledge that they will be deleted the instant I close that browser tab. I can even set it to delete the cookies only when I close the whole browser window, which is helpful with online stores.
And I can whitelist sites like the board, so the plugin doesn't mess with those cookies at all.

And you must use the same browser, on the same machine. Unless you're using something like a cookie manager that syncs to all your devices and things, your apple browser on your ipad won't have the delicious cookies chrome has on your PC. And unless google now manages cookies between your devices (who knows what the fuck they do), even chrome on your Android won't have the same cookies as chrome on your notebook, or chrome on your other Android.

SECURITY WHATNOW?
Once upon a when, we've had a data breach (maybe).
Click here if you don't know what that's about.
Show
If you've visited the forum at any time after November 18, 2020, you will have seen the message about a supposed data breach that may have exposed passwords. I know you will have seen it because, until today, there was a big general announcement right at the top of the everything.
Seeing how it's been nearly 18 months since that, with no further alarms getting rung, and how everyone has had 758,214 opportunities to take a minute to think about the security of their passwords, I've taken that notice down.
Follow this link for all the info that has transpired about the whole mess.

Fabricating a spare part rather than buying?
There you go. That's exactly what proponents of 3D-printing had ever promised, had proposed to those who rejected the idea that fabricating plastics on such a minute scale could be of any use to anyone.

Dude this thread has been a joy to follow, no doubt you should be incredibly proud that you rescued this bike from the scrap heap and rolled your own with it. Thank you for logging all of this.
Thank you! I'm really loving how it turned out. It's definitely not my ideal bike, but it's the one I own and as you stated, rescued from the scrap heap. Inline fours aren't my favorite engine, and I'm not a huge fan of the forward lean (even with mx bars), but it hauled my ass all over the place in varied weather, terrain, and speeds. It may sound dumb but the maroon seat really set it all off for me.

I'm happy to share it all with you, and I appreciate all the help you guys/gals have given me in this thread and over the years. If I haven't mentioned it recently, the gritty details are all on ye olde blog: https://7plus8.blogspot.com

Temps are headed into the mid 30s this weekend, and I'm way behind on yard and garden prep work. So I'm gonna finally drain the fuel tank and carbs, then put her to bed for the season.

It almost makes me want to get another project bike, to use as a loaner for friends..... almost.

How it started...

Where it was May 2021

Where it is today, after many changes, and a trip to DooM22

The carbs have been drained, and it's unofficially up for the long winter nap.

Should they be bigger?

I'm still strongly considering putting these on the tank, after getting it stripped and painted correctly.

I dunno, man. Having seen the bike in person now and going back through the old pix... I kind've like the badgeless look. I've even considered pulling the Indian Scout badges off Lilah.

I did so on my Genuine Buddy 125. That way I could theoretically run it with no plates -- not required for a 50cc.

Yeah, they kinda clash with the cyberpunk / wasteland aesthetic I've got going on.

Not to boast but man, every time I go in my garage and look at it, I think "Dammit, that looks fucking awesome.".

I still want to make may Arduino warning lights/info cluster, using an LCD like this:
784-07.jpg
I have the logic scribbled out in true insane fashion, on the back of multiple pieces of scrap paper. The display would be animated crazy fake boot sequence, directional arrows for each t-signal while active, as well as animations for high beams, as well as low oil indicator. Maybe boot with something UTMC related.

Picked up what was listed as an 88 CBR600F Hurricane exhaust from eBay, with intact baffles. Definitely not a Hurricane can, as it's about 3-4 inches longer, and has the mounting bracket in a different place. Quick search turned up it's for a CBR600F2. Instead of trying to return it, I'm just gonna roll with it and see how it goes. Had to make a quick little bracket to for the peg mount, started with some aluminum stock, but found a piece of steel.

Since I'm going to a more restrictive can, I'll probably have to revisit jetting again (hopefully just popping off the airbox plug I printed).

The can says "Trinity" on it, so I think the scrappers tried to name my bike. I kinda dig it,...

Now I need to get my butt in gear and replace the valve cover gasket, maybe double check the valve clearance while I'm in there, and replace the coolant hoses. Weather's getting nicer...

The current bike name in the lead is "Sweet Jane", from William Gibson's "Count Zero", and the track by Lou Reed.
