Analog Cycle + Washing Machine = 65 KPH!!
https://interestingengineering.com/inno ... hit-68-mph

Yeah, yeah, it's only 40 MPH. Still, on that bike? Besides potato street-legality (not a chance in heck), this thing is frankly terrifying.
I'm sure they are having the time of their life, and I wish them the best, mind.
Vostokebike-header.jpg

Look at the size of that motor.
I know electric motors have mad torque to begin with.
But that many coils, on that diameter? That's gotta be...

Also, I only just noticed: where are the batteries?!
He does show us the box of fresh batteries for the next project. But not where they are on the first one.
The wires hanging down from under the saddle make me thing the battery pack goes somewhere behind the saddle. But it's definitely not in the video.

Good gods. Yeah, that looks a lot like ProblemAddict's bike in terms of speed -- and yes, abso-fucking-lutely terrifying.

Okay, so this isn't an electric bike... except that it is?

Using Eddie-currents and permanent magnets as a combination clutch/CVT transmission, it's...
an analog e-bike?
It is brushless, and... it's just too weird and wonderful!

Yeah, its real inspiring to see the bike go from CAD to frame jig to finished bike. I love those kinds of vids.

I think what keeps it from being a wheelie monster is that motor is intended for 220v but he's running 48v on it. However, he also says he's rewound the motor coils to be more appropriate for the voltage. It would all depend on the specifics of the windings. He might still have it wound for an unattainable top speed, which would limit the torque at low rpms...

I remember this guy's washing machine powered bike from several years ago. He built a beautiful frame to match. Its also interesting that he first attempted to build the motor into the wheel, but wasn't happy w/ it and went mid-drive afterall:

My visual impairment making closed captions tricky, I just skimmed over the video at rapid replay.
But I could not find where he installs the batteries. On the bit where he rides the finished product, I still couldn't spot a battery pack.
Did I overlook it, did he explain in those closed captions how he is using RF-energy or something, or where is the electricity coming out of?

at 12:56 you can see him mount the battery under the seat. They are hobby-lipo, RC batteries. The most power-dense lithium you can buy. Also the most likely to catch fire... Later the chyrons on the screen show "48v ... 4000mah". So, a 4Ah battery at 48 volts. That will give him something like a 5 mile range, lol. At the very end of the vid it says his peak power was 1.8kw. I don't feel like doing the math, but that would drain that battery in like, half a city block, but for peak power for starting off from a stop, that number seems reasonable.

Well, I do feel like it, ha! :P

1.8 kW = 1,800 VA
1,800 VA / 48 V = 37.5 A

4 Ah = 14,400 As
14,400 As / 37.5 A = 384 s = 6 minutes and 24 seconds.

I'm sure a few seconds of 37.5 Amps won't do that much damage... but I think the way some of that wiring looked, 37.5 Amps for almost 6 and a half minutes sounds like puddle of molten copper, doesn't it?

That battery should be fine up to around 60A continuous, so no problem there. But I didn't pay much attention to his wiring, so there might be a problem there.

Anywhere from 5 to 25lbs. For sure not ideal placement, but that's a common problem with many full suspension bike frames.
But, ya know, it's offset by the 25lbs rear wheel

If I haven’t mentioned it before, where we lived in Sarasota FL was a big Amish community, and those mf’ers all had electric trikes with a front hub motor and a battery setup on the downtube just for putting to the stores in the hood. I always though it would be fun to put hub motors on ALL 3 wheels and a couple deep cycle batteries in the rear basket for some real speed & distance.

Yep, you've seen it before too! It was mentioned on page 6 of this here thread!

I wasn't sure if he'd ever get past the vaporware+prototypes stage, but it looks like he's actually in production! Someone on the FB group "Vehicles I See In Traffic" just posted a pic of one street parked in, I think, Monaco. Which is fitting.

I feel happy for the guy. He hand built the prototype, it caught a buzz on the web, and I guess he used that buzz to connect with investors and now he's in production? That's the way you would think it would normally go, but it almost never turns out that way....

Regarding massive torque specs bandied about in articles and press releases. Take the Verge above, it's listed at 737 lbs-ft. A massive figure for a V8 truck, let alone a sport bike. But the numbers aren't comparable that way. And that Verge torque number actually works out to very nearly exactly what a Harley Sportster 1200 makes.

I'm gonna post these screen shots of a commentor who explained it better than I could:
