Me, I've got "Self-Destructing Cookies" plugins in my various browsers. I can't tell what that is. Might be related to the most recent update that has come out and which I have yet to install.
Got a funeral tomorrow, and a bunch of estate settling to do in the immediate future, so it's gonna be a few days before I can get on this.

Or it might actually just be fucking youtube being youtube. I just looked around and found that the embedding of Vimeo videos still works fine in many places.
If anyone has the time to do a bit of a dive on this, figure out if other fora are experiencing similar problems with youtube, and perhaps on what youtube is doing different, that aid would be much appreciated.

I recently learned about the band Los Saicos. They've got an aggressive surf-rock, garage-rock sound. They started releasing tunes in 1964 & some ppl have claimed them as the first punk rock band. And they're from Peru.

Quote from a short documentary on YouTube:
"In 1964 the Beatles were singing love songs, and Los Saicos we're singing songs about demolishing everything"

After scrutinizing @motorpsycho67's post, whence I saw the player embedded, I concluded the problem (if any) was probably an over-abundance of tags, or a browser weirding.
Let's see if this works.

Code: Select all

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2zIh97e3J9EAJSRPCJFPpJ?si=46932e9132b5415f

Works for me.

It appears that Spotify is refreshingly HTML5 compliant, so a browser can just embed without the board or any tags to help.

Also, I actually feel classical today. Hence I just interrupted Vivaldi's The Four Seasons - Summer at minute two because I thought that playlist title sounded interesting.
I ended up having to register, try two different browsers, all with the same problem (instead of playing like it should, the webplayer skipped through the playlist like a nutter).
So, the mp3 player still stuck on minute two of Summer, I download the app. Can't install because, so it tells me, the damn thing already is installed. :Jeez:
I start the app for the first time, I type in my fresh Spotted Fiend credentials, and it actually directly shows me this playlist. Click ">". And it does exactly the same.
Until I close both of the browser windows whence I had tested Spotify. This tells me their app is just another browser in disguise, and whatever their website was trying to tell my browsers proper spilled over.
This was of course before I had figured out how the player can embed - seems to work even without all the spotted cookies I got now.

I'm listening to this playlist now. It's competing with a playlist remainder that's three-ish of Vivaldi's seasons, followed by Smetana's The Moldau, as conducted by D. Barenbaum, with the Chicago Symphony. So this here better be good!

EDITION: fucking adverts... :Jeez:

EDITEROD 2 - EDITING DAY: I just looked to see if this playlist maybe also exists on my usual music streaming pimp, Amazon (I got prime, it's included, I see no point of signing up for yet another subscription).
Man, there are an lot of songs with the title 21st Century Blues.
Right now, I'm listening to the version by Toto of all bands.
"How can we believe the world is round? I just can't conceive it..."
Has Toto just run into fucking flat earthers, or... are they flat earthers themselves?

Disclaimer: Generally, I don't much listen to potato music. There are a few groups who's works sometimes make my playlist, but I mostly just don't care enough to seek out more.

I've known about this particular band for a while. They are not among the few who sometimes make my playlist - usually.
However, for a while now, three songs from their early oeuvre have been bouncing around my playlist for a bit now. And I thought I might ask for y'all's opinion.
I'm specifying their early oeuvre because their later stuff kinda drifted off into Schlager music. Which isn't even where musical taste goes to die. It's worse than that.

But this is before any Schlager flavor. These are from when they had a lot of stuff to say.
See, Die Puhdys?
The single most popular rock band - out of communist East Germany. Yah.

The first one, my favorite at present, Ikarus, from 1976. The same year that popular dissident songsmith/Stasi-informant Wolf Biermann had been permitted to do a gig or so in West Germany - and then wasn't allowed back into East Germany. Guess his dissidence was stronger than his Stasi-ties.
So a pretty hostile climate all over when this song was published.
But sometimes clever artists can do a clever. Like using well known ancient mythology to slide their statement of discontent in sideways, all innocuous like. You don't have to sing like a dissident to dissent.

And because I've got nothing better to do for the next twenty minutes, and I like the challenge of translating song-lyrics, I've done that.
Ikarus lyrics translated(ish)
Show
One felt his home, his house was to constricting,
Craved to be in the world
Looked at the sky, saw how a flock flew by

He was called Ikarus,
and he was so young,
was full of impatience
built himself wings,
jumped off of the ground and flew
and flew

Chorus:
Rise, Ikarus, fly ahead of us!
Rise, Ikarus, show us the way!

When his father spoke
Don't fly too high
Sun will destroy you!
He only laughed
He laughed loud and rose.

He didn't make it
And he crashed
But the first was he
Many followed him
That's why his death is a triumph
A triumph

Chorus

One felt his home, his house was to constricting,
Craved to be in the world
Looked at the sky, saw how a flock is swaying

He's called Ikarus
and is ever young
is full of impatience
Builds himself wings
jumps off of the ground
and flies

Chorus
Chorus
Chorus
This next one, Geh zu ihr, is a bit older, from 1973.
The title means "go to her", it's a love song, obviously.
Well, I say love song... the intended audience seems to be male, the vocal style, singer and background, are pretty, well... there aren't a lot of lyrics, and you don't need to speak a lot of potato to get the idea .

Geh zu ihr lyrics... as much as there are...
Show
Go to her, and fly your kite
go to her, coz' you don't live off money alone
Eyes closed, then you see only this one!
Hold her tight and fly your kite.

Chorus
Hey hey your kite!
Hey hey hey go to her!
Hey hey your kite!
Hey hey hey just go to her!

Go to her, and fly your kite
go to her, coz' you don't live off money alone

Chorus
Chorus

Eyes closed, then you see only this one!
Hold her tight and fly your kite.

Chorus
The third song is actually a cover from another communist East German band, from the late 80s.
And just on the edge of slipping into Schlager.
But since it's a cover, I don't think it belongs here.
If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

I said I have a big stick.

I've been listening to a lot of , I wouldn't say country, I'd say more, Americana. This video and track from the late great John Prine kicked me right in the fucking heart. I lost my Dad to opioids in 2018, so this was a rough but beautiful video.
