To be remembered, you must have cookies enabled in your browser. Some people prefer using "private" browsing mode - which precludes cookies being placed on your device in the first place.
Some people use regular browsing mode, but may have chosen to disable all cookies in their settings. Sometimes, these people will end up tearing their hair out because a lot of websites just don't work at all, like many online stores, as many e-commerce platforms don't do bugger all without using cookies.
Me, I've got "Self-Destructing Cookies" plugins in my various browsers. Which lets me accept all cookies everywhere, smug in the knowledge that they will be deleted the instant I close that browser tab. I can even set it to delete the cookies only when I close the whole browser window, which is helpful with online stores.
And I can whitelist sites like the board, so the plugin doesn't mess with those cookies at all.
And you must use the same browser, on the same machine. Unless you're using something like a cookie manager that syncs to all your devices and things, your apple browser on your ipad won't have the delicious cookies chrome has on your PC. And unless google now manages cookies between your devices (who knows what the fuck they do), even chrome on your Android won't have the same cookies as chrome on your notebook, or chrome on your other Android.

There in the important bit Cooper figures in his head that they "they" are a "we" from a later time, then gets busy being Murph's ghost. How would "they" be able to save him in the black hole and make the bookcase/window/box thing if he hadn't done it already making it possible for "they" to exist to develop the tech to do so? The cheap answer is "He had always already saved them, he just didn't know he had done it yet". Were the "they/we" that saved them the descendants of Brandt's colony she was to build on Edmund's planet?

But the spoiler tag is not weak, nor vengeful. When the tables are turned, it is wise enough to give the quote tag shelter and let it do it's thing, still.

I won't go into the paradox mess. I have an idea that, if time was just another dimension akin to those of space, the whole concept of causality which you need for a paradox to be paradoxical might not even apply.

Alright, took the boy to see Avengers-Age of Ultron IMAX 3D.
It was spectacular! I usually don't like 3D as it seems gimmicky and constantly tries to throw crap in your face for the sake of being 3D. They did a nice job of using it in non-action scenes subtlety, then not letting it get in the way during the action stuff.

All the reviews I read played up Spader as ultron being super-creepy. I did not get that vibe. Clever yeah, witty, that too , but never really creepy. The witty banter was prolific and very well done. One bit between Thor and Vision nearly brought the house down. I'm not going to get much into the few issues I had with the plot here since I know everyone will dig into the spoiler tags and I'm not going to give it all away. Go see the dang movie.

I've finally gotten to see this one.
Mr. Bloemkamp does not disappoint. This has convinced me to see Elysium sometime soon. Compared to District 9, it's definitely up to form.
Nor does he produce a movie that will stand up to ALL geek picking of nits, no.
But it doesn't matter. Not the lone-visionary-against-the-man I had expected, not quite, at least. A handful of interesting twists. Recommended!

The Giver
Not perfect, but really quite good. Actually some new ideas I hadn't seen before as such. Quite scary, a few of them. Especially these days, when all must be monetized and medicated and morals and ethics must generally take a back-seat to making a profit.

If you don't see the connection, imagine the setting of the movie as a gated community in a company town, Mrs. Streep's character as the VP of HR.
Two minor disappointments. One was the jack-in-the-box they chose for the all-is-well-ending.
The other was Mrs. Streep. She was good, credible. Which, for her, is basically phoning it in. They didn't use her nearly enough.

Marvel movies have been less than ... wow, recently.
This one makes up for a lot.
I must admit, I had not expected much from Ant Man. Not a franchise I was very familiar with, and how exciting is a really little dud gonna get? Yeah, yeah ...
The epic battle at the end is everything the grand finale of a superhero movie should be.
Never thought I'd see Thomas the Tank Engine be quite so fucking badass.

I'm grinning like a very unserious person.
For, as I type this, I'm watching the single most hilarious absurdist comedy/farce I've ever watched!
For perspective: I am of the generation Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
I was ten when that came out and, as $100 million special-effects orgies were still moderately rare at the time, it remained a cultural touchstone for the people around me and myself for years to come.
Eventually, I got it on VHS, and wore out the tape, I think. I must have watched that over two dozen times. Nothing on TV? Nothing else to do, yet having the run of the living room TV?
I built a big VHS collection as a teen, but still, this one remained the go to movie when I couldn't decide.
Rise of the Machines was helluva disappointing, so I never even watched Salvation, mind.
How is this relevant?
Because, of the many movies I just would NEVER have thought possible, a Terminator/Terminator 2 crossover would have been right at the top of the list.
Terminator Genisys
Now, I'm seeing a Terminator with arthritis, I just saw J.K. Simmons cursing the damn time-travelling robots like really only J.K. Simmons can (sublime casting, I mean it!), and ...
I've been just UNABLE to stop grinning for the past ten minutes.
EVEN better than any and all Terminators going off against each other, the new twist on the "give me your clothes" scene.
Better even than a multi-million dollar MRI machine that comes with a BIG-STUPID-DIAL for magnet-power.
I mean it. If you've grown up with the original two Terminator movies, if you've grown up on crappy 80s action-movie fare, I don't think you could find a more hilarious movie. Just all the damn detail!!
The only reason I had even decided to watch it was that, once again, nothing to do, it was there and I saw the ICBM launch sequence, just a few seconds, in a youtube video. I make a point of at least checking out any movie with ICBM launches in it, 80s-kid paranoias, and when I found out what it was I had been honestly disappointed.
I am no more!
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

NOTE: The beginning, before the time-traveling shenanigans, is boring as all get out. Fast forward and enjoy seeing all the Terminator-on-Terminator violence you dreamed up when you were a kid.

NOTE: The beginning, before the time-traveling shenanigans, is boring as all get out. Fast forward and enjoy seeing all the Terminator-on-Terminator violence you dreamed up when you were a kid.

The best sci-fi movie I've seen in the last few years is Under the Skin. Ex-Machina was pretty good too.
I saw Interstellar when it came out, but honestly don't remember if I liked it or not. It didn't stay with me....

So, the first one was ... let's be honest.
It was "an plot", and not a well thought-out one, with not so impressive characters and a lot of BIG STUFF EXPLODING.
Fun when you're 15, fun when you're drunk/stoned with your buddies.
But apart from as a self-satire, it doesn't work for me.
Now, an expensive sequel, with much hotter VFX technology and a lot of big names. Those are usually not as good as the first movie.
I'm almost excited to see how this one will manage to be not as good as the original. Honestly am!

I dunno, I still enjoy the 1st one as kind of background noise until a big scene is coming up, then its still fun to watch. Overall I think it holds up well.
Having watched this trailer last night, I am stoked to see if it can showcase the updated technology (IRL) as a reflection of the technology gained form the aliens after the first go 'round. In other words, I hope they don't overreach a'la Phantom Menace and try to our CGI themselves. Let's face it, the physical models exploding in the movie is what people still talk about today. Frankly I am quite surprised that Will Smith passed on coming back for this, as ID4 was the film many consider as his breakout hit as a major star.

Just watched this last night and was really impressed with it. I read a review afterwards that praised it as being 'real' science fiction, which is to say, really thought provoking as opposed to a typical story with action and explosions in a space setting. I liked how there was really only one 'special effect' in the movie, the robot girl, and it was so well done.

Another review I read jokingly described it as 'Weird Science by Stanley Kubrick' which I thought was pretty funny.

I found another funny thing about the movie in my readings (I like to read up on a movie after I've seen it and successfully dodged the spoiler demons). The promoters of the movie used a fake account on the dating app tinder when they were showing the movie at the south by southwest festival in Austin. If a person looking for romance interacted with the profile, they got asked some robotic questions and then directed to a page promoting the movie. It's silly, but perfectly on subject with the movie, and quite timely considering the revelation that all of the women on the ashley madison dating site were bots.

Re: The sci-fi movie thread that already exists.
So, I'm watching Avengers - Age of Ultron. You know, the Avengers movie that just makes the whole ongoing Marvel-Universe range of interrelated movies feel a bit "Denver Clan".
And suddenly, BAM. Some punk set-designer has to ruin my suspension of disbelief, just kick me straight out of it.
I mean, COME ON!
Did the regulations for displaying the name of a vessel change since last I checked?
Am I indeed mistaken to remember, distinctly, that it would be the name and, below that, the home-port.
ESPECIALLY with ship from a country with an intimidating history of seafaring!
A country which, btw., is officially NOT called "Great Britain". Great Britain is merely part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland! British may accurately describe most of the UK's citizens, but whenever I've seen official mention of that nation, it would be as United Kingdom.
And what kind of LAZY-ASS writer came up with the idea that "Churchill", probably the single most revered name in the UK's 20th century history is a name any self-respecting British shipping line would slap on what surely looks like a bulker?!
Not to mention: it is my understanding that, before being grounded on those Indian sand-bars, or whatchamacallit, for breaking up, vessels tend to change hand and arrive under the flag etc. of the scrap-dealer who bought it.
