LOGIN ISSUES
Because I've presently got technical incompetences with the board, password resets presently do not work automatic like.
If you can't login, click here please.
Show
If you have any problem logging in, please don't bother waiting and get in touch. Email right to the usual address (admin at...), use the contact form (bottom of index and most other pages), post in the Midget Circus, or message me directly on Facebook.
I should get the message within a few hours, but under rare circumstances, it might take me a day.

If you can login no problem, but you wish to avoid problem, try checking the "Remember Me" box where you login. I've meddled with the settings there, so even if you return here only once every couple of weeks, it should remember you fine. Provided you have cookies enabled.

If it won't remember you, and you want to be sure any failure to remember is actually such and not just an oops, please read the following (click the bar to make it "show").
Important infos about cookies
Show
To be remembered, you must have cookies enabled in your browser. Some people prefer using "private" browsing mode - which precludes cookies being placed on your device in the first place.
Some people use regular browsing mode, but may have chosen to disable all cookies in their settings. Sometimes, these people will end up tearing their hair out because a lot of websites just don't work at all, like many online stores, as many e-commerce platforms don't do bugger all without using cookies.
Me, I've got "Self-Destructing Cookies" plugins in my various browsers. Which lets me accept all cookies everywhere, smug in the knowledge that they will be deleted the instant I close that browser tab. I can even set it to delete the cookies only when I close the whole browser window, which is helpful with online stores.
And I can whitelist sites like the board, so the plugin doesn't mess with those cookies at all.

And you must use the same browser, on the same machine. Unless you're using something like a cookie manager that syncs to all your devices and things, your apple browser on your ipad won't have the delicious cookies chrome has on your PC. And unless google now manages cookies between your devices (who knows what the fuck they do), even chrome on your Android won't have the same cookies as chrome on your notebook, or chrome on your other Android.

SECURITY WHATNOW?
Once upon a when, we've had a data breach (maybe).
Click here if you don't know what that's about.

If you've visited the forum at any time after November 18, 2020, you will have seen the message about a supposed data breach that may have exposed passwords. I know you will have seen it because, until today, there was a big general announcement right at the top of the everything.
Seeing how it's been nearly 18 months since that, with no further alarms getting rung, and how everyone has had 758,214 opportunities to take a minute to think about the security of their passwords, I've taken that notice down.
Follow this link for all the info that has transpired about the whole mess.

Great finds! I'm definitely down for closer to the Midwest, understanding that makes it farther for the east coasters.
Really more the New England types. It'll be roughly the same for anyone around the Chesapeake, just with nicer roads. (Admittedly, the PA folks will need to travel farther.)

As posted to the FB:

Today I had a lovely chat with "Miss Kitty" of the Long Branch Saloon/Motel. She's a trip and she gave me the skinny. The Motel has 12 rooms but a couple are booked already. She's got some rooms with 2 x King beds and some rooms w/ 1 queen bed. She only allows 4 ppl in the double rooms and 2 ppl in the single rooms.
Prices for the 7th - 10th are about $110/per room per night.
Saloon is open 4pm - 930pm
Saloon is closed Sunday and Monday.

We can book all the available rooms now, but she needs a deposit of the first night's stay up front. This deposit is NON REFUNDABLE. I'm sure we can all call individually to book, but procrastinators might be screwed with the place being so small...

She said there's 5 doubles and 2 singles getting us room for 24 ootmiks. But that's only 7 rooms where originally she said we could book 9 rooms, but at that point I needed to get off the phone...

Lemme know what you guys think, what questions I should ask when I call again, and whatever else. How many will stay until Monday? If enough ppl are gung-ho and want to Venmo me some non-refundable funds, I can make the 1st night deposit and book the place.

This does sound promising, though the bar closes at 9:30? I hope you told them there'd likely be shenanigans after hours.

Lemme make sure I can get that weekend clear and I'll send you funds. I seem to recall there's some screw-up around Columbus day this year bu tI can't figure out what.

As usual, I won't have any clue until it's much closer. If by some miracle, I get to attend, I'll find some place to make camp nearby.

DOOMing Banjos? DOOMliverance?
The DOOM that came to Appalachia:
So I just took the initiative and booked two double-rooms at the Long Branch Saloon/Motel for October 7th - 10th. If you want to DOOM with me there, I've got room for 6 other Ootmiks as I think Aggro is already on board.
If you want your own room, be sure to call and book asap, as the motel only has 12 rooms total. Enjoy your chat with Miss Kitty, she's pretty hilarious.

If there's objections, or if a new doom location is ..er, located, I can always cancel.

Lemme know in the comments if you want to crash in one of my rooms...

Same here, I need the mileage, the away time, and to visit with my internet friends again.

I've been tweaking and plotting my route, found a couple of good camp sites. Plan to leave Thurs morning, camp somewhere near Parkersburg, WV. Nice easy day, then roll out to the new Portal on Friday. Not sure if I'll stay at the saloon with you all, there are some nice wooded areas around it. Maybe they'll let me make camp.

I started watching a video over the Mid Atlantic BDR, last night. This treasure is not too far from where we'll be staying:
https://goo.gl/maps/Eg3XLvEgYyJDQCLMA, along with section 4 of the MABDR. I believe that section is all paved, but I'm going to verify that. Might be a fun Saturday trip!

It'd be a bit of a hike to get all the way back on this side of the mountains but... I guess it's possible? I do believe Skkot is signed up and planning to come.

The toll bridge is about 1.5 hours, on the back roads. Pay the toll, get some lunch at the Schoolhouse Kitchen, then head back out.

ok... it's official. I'm in for 2022, barring any major events (please dear gods, no more major negative events). I got the nod from my wife, my boss, and I've got the PTO hours.

I'm rolling on the cheap, so my broke ass is either gonna camp near by, or sleep on someone's floor. I may or may not be riding with rench, we're still working that out. I'll be there on Friday, probably mid-day, and head home on Sunday.

So I haven’t logged into the mother ship for quite some time and I came here tonight and read the DOOM thread.

I would really love to attend this year and see all of you hooligans again, even if I no longer have 2-wheeled transport.

Has a replacement DOOM location been nailed down? And if so, who do I throw $$ at to reserve space?

I’m even willing to stay at a DOOM-adjacent hotel to give priority to those who actually rode in on 2.

The new portal is here: http://www.lbsaloon.com/, operated by Miss Kitty (it's her birthday during DooM). There may be rooms available, if not, there's probably floor space.

It's true -- both Mook and Red were there.

I think I was there. Things between Friday night and Sunday morning are a little hazy and frostbitten -- largely courtesy of that double shot Rench insisted I drink -- but I think it was generally a good time.

The ride home was honestly gorgeous and thankfully less frostbitten than I'd feared. Also, I was a lot less hungover and more appropriately dressed for it. I have subsequently ordered those goddamn barkbuster-type hand guards to go on Lilah to keep at least some of the wind blast off. I'll get heated grips on her too, but this is a quick and reasonable fix to the amount I really ride in the cold any more. :)

Good to see y'all, even if just briefly. We had a couple of other surprise visits like SSCAM and Rolly!
