JB Weld, Zim. JB Weld. AZ's probably re-spoking him wheels with a wire coat hanger right now. Sheesh.

Honestly, I have to say that I had my reservations about actually showing up, especially once I got a look at the weather forecast, but I screwed my courage to the sticking post and went up there ready to kick ass and eat bacon from an enormous ziplock bag in a parking lot. Lucky for everyone involved, there was no shortage of parking lot bacon.
That being said, I had a lot of fun. I am safely back in Houston again, it is WARM here, which is nice. Thank you for the hospitality. Y'all come down to Texas sometime, we can arrange the DOOM that came to the Alamo in the spring. Pictures (what few I took) will be posted eventually.

Just walked in the door half an hour ago, wired on nasty coffee from a string of gas stations over the last 600+ miles.
The car ran fine, quite possibly due to MATPOC's ministrations but we'll never really know for sure. It got a lot worse before it got better, though.
I didn't have to use the escape pod.
Holy fuck am I tired.

I hope everyone else had a manageable ride home, not too much rain. Great seeing everyone again. I think I need to have more short conversations and not just a handful of long ones. Or maybe I talk too much. I dunno.

@ Sisyphus: glad you made it! I suspect loose chunks of carbon are still bouncing around your intake, also it's possible you got some bad fuel? removing fuel lines also could introduce some dirt in to injectors... if you were closer I'd come up and help you get it sorted but I suspect without trailer in tow it will run like a champ now!

I had mostly dry ride, after milling around in X-keys parking lot finaly departed around 2 PM and immediately hit a heavy shower that lasted only 10 miles, the rest of the way was cold but dry, some scattered rain drops in PA and NJ and sections wet roads/drizzle once I crossed Tapan Zee.

For return trip picked the shortest route, 390 miles, took 6 hours including 2 lengthy gas station stops at least 15 minutes each, somehow managed to avoid all the speed traps, got to give credit to Waze on my mobile phone, not 100% accurate but best I've seen so far.

Waze is a great app, I use it all the time.

My Doom was awesome as always! It was great to be suprised by blackjoe and FBR's attendance (and FBR's ladyfriend Jen? Jess? I suck at names). The bikes at the lunch spot:

After some good laughs at lunch we hit the NSP scooter rally where I took most of my pix and vids of the weekend:

Image

There was no Gymkhana this year, but they did set up the course for some "slow race" and drag race scooter action. Dozer and FBR got in on the action. Dozer grabbed whatever spare bike he could get his hands on, while FBR was rocking Rock's Duc:

Amazingly, and somewhat disappointingly, no one broke their face

Image

After all this madness, it was back to the Cross Keys for some dinner, cheap beer, conversations, and a whole lot else that is very very hazy to me at the moment. I hope alot of it comes back to me, because I do remember laughing an awful lot and having a great time w/ ppl I don't get to see nearly enough of. Apparently, I didn't take any pictures of the night's events.

The next morning was cold and dreary. I had a delicous breakfast w/ Stiles, AZ, and Buttzilla and took one picture of a very hungover Jaeger.

Image

I was planning to stay thru Sunday but the weather was shitty, and I felt shitty, and my warm bed and sweet woman at home were calling out to me, so I braved the chilly temps and blasted home.

DOOM!

As stated by Blackjoe, it's awesome meeting online compatriots in meatspace and putting faces to names.

I'll post more later, but here's a place-holder "thank you" for having me at this wonderful event!

Now that I'm mostly recovered, a brief, pictureless report.

Riding 700 miles in one shot, for one solid night of drinking (and arguing over the tab), and turning around the next day was, as I counted on, completely worth it. Having been a convert for a little while now of us routes and by-ways, the slab was a little dull, a little tedious, and a lot abusive, but seeing everyone was most fantastic. Thanks so much for making a few flyovers feel at home. I'm sorry I missed a few folks Friday apparently (Dozer? Bucc? FBR?). But, all the more lesson and excuse to always make the full engagement from now on. See you all soon.
