Also known as the beginning of Carnival here in Germany. Each year, November 11th, 11:11. Didn't use to be, used to be months earlier. I have yet to find out when they put it on that time, on that days. Wouldn't surprise me if that was 1919.

Blow it up to full screen if you can.

Find the 45min. It's not about lockpicking, it's about Dirty Tricks.

Indeed. Ollam isn't event the most wicked of the pen-testers. I sometimes like to watch this stuff and the tales they got are generally at least entertaining, if not outright enlightening.
There's another talk somewhere, where they explain their efforts to try and find a way to destroy a harddrive to the point that data-retrieval is impossible. They ended up on the bomb-squad blasting range, with shaped charge devices. It's really easy to get lost in youtube there, when it'll just auto-queue one talk after the other.

When I scrolled down here, I stumbled upon this. Had totally forgotten about it.
Can't wait for when commodity AV software and processing reach the point that someone can make them speak and do things they didn't in the og film, to make something totally new. And cobble together a 90 minute feature. That day is coming. There's (I'm told) software that will "learn" the face of someone out of video, so that you can put a celebrity's face onto actors in a porno. Obviously, that's the first thing that technology is used for.
But goshdangit. Hollywood is gonna have to come up with some seriously novel stuff to compete with all the small indy shops that can just make movies on a desktop computer, and it looks like someone actually shot something with actors on a stage.

Without the bleedin' media tags! Again, hadn't even occurred to me that this should be a thing. Once more, I hadn't even noticed doing that.

I wouldn't call Deviants work dirty tricks at all. Like it's said, security through obscurity is not a valid approach. This is education and ways to observe and take corrective action.

I helped a friend moving into one of the big local apartment places...... happened to notice the Linear access, and the quickset deadbolt for the storage area, and mentioned how to reverse engineer mastered key systems. Yeah, they liked hearing about that stuff.....

A few weeks ago, I "fixed" my vegetable crisper. Or whatever you call it, it's the drawer at the bottom of the fridge where you're supposed to put lettuce and things.
signal-2021-01-03-194330.jpeg
As you can see, big crack running down the front, and going under. I use it daily, since it's where I keep my coffee beans, so putting off repairing it only made matters worse.

My strategy:
Step the first, I make a big hole at the end of the crack. Cracks grow and get longer from, well, the end of the crack. That's a very small interruption in the material, which means that's where mechanical stresses are greatest. By making a big hole instead, and smoothing out the edges with my Dremel, the mechanical stresses there are no longer maximized. The crack lining up with one edge of the big hole was an accident. At some point, I had to stop making the hole bigger to fix new things I broke, so I just stopped there.

Step the second is where I did a dumb. Or six. Maybe seven.
My plan was to install the long steel bar you see, to distribute all mechanical loads across the width of the drawer. Drilling the holes for that, I a) managed to make some new cracking happen, and b) found I hadn't bought the right size rivets. I got some to stick, but they are a size to small, really. Seems to hold, though.

Step the third was stabilizing the lower section of the drawer with the shorter, wider plate. Right-size rivets this time.
Only almost every hole I drilled there produced nice big cracks spreading in opposite directions. Tried to drill some more stress-relief holes there... which created more stress and new cracks. So everything I tried made matters worse. So I stopped doing that and riveted that fucker in place and was done with it.

Since, the front of the drawer seems nice and stable, and I don't think I've seen any of the many cracks I created grow further. So for now, it seems to be okay.

remember when we used to talk about motorcycles. me neither. I fixed mine with a large panel of plexiglass i had in the basement that I formed with an angle grinder, covered it with acrylic mastic I had left like it's marmalade on a slice of bread and topped it with duct tape. it's even more mad max than yours.

Well, this is the part of the board specifically created by my predecessor(s) for non-motorcycle related conversations, and this is the Random Pics thread, not Bike Porn FTW, so...
