Two stroke, day one:

Imaginary Canadian Girlfriend randomly surprised me with a visit from Imaginary Canada. She wanted to test out her new bike. Her new bike is a KDX200 two smoker. She found the power band at an inopportune moment, and stacked it into a pile of rocks. Fortunately, ATGATT. We went riding the next day; she has more bruises now.

Ouch. Nice to hear she's okay and back riding. Not so nice to hear she collected more bruises. Was that par for the course for your brand of two-smoking or another get-off?

The initial bruises were more a symptom of the crappy riding area. The closest place to my house that one can really ride a dirtbike is this area called Prairie City. Great place to motocross, and has one of my favorite supermoto tracks (when it's open to us) but other than that, it's rocky, low traction, and boring. She poked it into the power band right as she was coming up out of a ditch, and went airborne... sideways... into a pile of rocks.

Day two bruises were from an accidental jerk of the throttle in a downhill switchback (at a vastly better riding area), after which she managed to find the one big rock in an otherwise soft and fluffy pile of plant matter on the side of the trail.

Mostly she is just a hard charger, who insisted that she wanted a two stroke for her first bike. Now she is learning two stroke. Until you get used to them, two stroke dirtbikes have a habit of sneaking up on you and doing funny things like going WAY faster than you need, want, or expect at any given moment. Combine that with the hard charger part, and you have a recipe for many bumps and bruises.

It wasn't two days before she was back at the gym, trying to do squats with one gimpy leg...

Ah yes, I taught my teenage son how to ride on a two stroke, and he had a couple of those powerband moments. Good times.

Glad to hear that she got back on. More power to her. My YZ became more predictable after I threw on a heavier flywheel. Never had any of my KDXes sneak up on me...pretty mellow compared to others.

I hope she's not "trying" to impress anybody. Any chick who laser-guns sharkbears in outer space is already rad. :P

Two strokes are fun. Hope she heals up quick.

Does your Imaginary Canadian Girlfriend have any imaginary Canadian single girl friends?

Probably, but you'd have to move to Toronto.

Yeah, it's mellower than others, but has a supercross pipe on it and could probably use some tuning, both of which negate some of the mellowness.

My CR also became more predictable with a heavy flywheel weight. Thank god, because there's no way I could ride the thing in the woods otherwise.

My DT250 had an imaginary powerband....

Maybe it was just all powerband? One day I'll ride a properly scary two-stroke.
