What are the two most important things in a man's life? Food and sex. They offer the combo - no surprise they're doing good. When everything else is crap, the basic comforts become ever more important.

About a year or so ago, I walked through the main bar district of town (is that what you call it? you know what I mean, that little cluster of streets where all the "classy", that is "not-a-dive" drinking establishments gather) and was surprised to find that, yes, where there once was just another bar, there is now a Hooters. Up until that moment, I hadn't even been aware they had expanded into Germany. Or maybe someone just ripped them off, there are enough pop-culture references to it to create some manner of brand awareness in the coveted circles of the well-earning young-ish folk.

EDIT: Turns out it was genuine, one of nine locations they had in all of Germany. Has been closed down since, however, they are down to two locations. The hooters.de domain leads to a cybersex business, so they aren't working on brand presence, probably given up already. Somehow, this makes me feel indifferent.
If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

I said I have a big stick.

can't read all the words. Need more pictures.

I must confess. I actually did go to Hooters today for lunch with my coworkers. We had the buffet. It was crap because they didn't offer Three Mile Island wings.

It's tough to afford a meal AND a strip-joint, so the poor are compromising.

Since such establishments require discriminatory hiring practices as a matter of course, perhaps the proliferation of them could be a subtle bellwether of the state of civil rights and the popular attitude toward them.
