All-vegetarian McDonald's?

Tiffany Hsu on latimes.com wrote:McDonald’s, that carnivore’s haven of beefy Big Macs and chicken McNuggets, is going vegetarian.
First off all, Miss Hsu must be a vegetarian herself, for as a carnivore, I can say that, without doubt, removing meat from their menu won't make it any worse than it already is.
Secondly, this does illustrate nicely the adaptability of free enterprise, a company notorious for animal cruelty (from the farm to the kitchen) and animal products switching away from animals entirely.

I do think they earn a little bit of applause, though. Considering what happened when the beef content of their fries got known in India (rumor or not hardly matters), serving chicken would still make sense. But they go the whole nine yards. Not gutsy, but remarkably thorough. On the other hand, removing meat from the menu entirely probably brings a lot of savings in their cold-chain and food handling. Still, who would have thought McD would one day run veggy restaurants?

If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

I said I have a big stick.

As the only reason I go to McDonald's is to get a dose of bovine antibiotics and steroids, this would not appeal to me. Unless they had a really cool Happy Meal toy.
