Going to the Quail Motorcycle Gathering?
So I haven't been around much lately. It's because I've had my nose firmly to the grindstone of becoming a decent saxophone player. Well it seems to be working because I just got into a pretty good, gigging band called The Inciters. We play Northern Soul.
It turns out we're going to be playing the Quail Motorcycle Gathering in Monterey on may 17th. If you haven't heard of it Quail is kind of the counterpart to the Pebble Beach Concourse, but you know, with motorcycles.

Saw them once at a bar in Long Beach in the mid 90s, after a scooter rally. Pretty damn good. From what I hear, the lineup has changed quite a bit since then though.
Congrats on the gig.

Yeah, with 11 people the members definitely change up. There are a couple of stalwarts in there though. These guys are a huge step up from the addled stoners I've been trying to make music with.
The thing with a longstanding group is that they have a lot of songs. We're going to be playing the Peppermill in Reno next weekend, it'll be my first casino show as well as my first show with this group. That gives me two weeks to learn 55 soul songs by ear.
Also Don our lead guitar player rides a really really clean '62 Lambretta.

Congrats on the gig! It's always a good feeling to get plugged into a motivated group that's actually working. Be sure to post up if you make it to the PNWet, would love to come out and hear the groove.

Good for you! And whats with that with established bands?
I only needed 6 tunes down to audition in, was welcomed with open arms, then handed a list of 11 more to know for the next weekends gig.
Back to work!
