Oh the good ole times when the Hamburg PD still used BMWs. Now they're testing HD bikes, don't know if they keep them though. That cartoonist btw is from my hometown Hamburg and I have pretty much all his books. Didn't know that they're available in the US now. Cool!

They gave them back already...turning radius too big, generally not manouverable enough, too difficult to ride and something about operative and repair costs.

i have a copy of a police write up on the BMW R1150RTP done by the colorado springs PD. they determined after careful study that some 98% of all the accidents suffered by motor officers in the CSPD over the last 5 years would have been prevented had they been on the beemer. the attributed this to FAR better handling and manuverability and ABS brakes.

then of course they inked a new contract with harley (so i've heard).

Yah, it's a series of comic books called "Motomania" by a certain Holger Aue. He's including himself in some of the stories, in fact he's the guy with the round glasses and straight nose who's not on the Laverda. Rides old Kwakas and italians as far as I know. I couldn't identify his bike though.
