Payment timing...

I work in a Pension Service Center for a mjor banking company, and here lately our system keeps forgetting to cut people's checks until a month after we tell them they'll be getting their money. Our company has a rule on "under promise/over deliver," which is kinda hard to do when you tell a cranky pensioner that their payment will be there in 3 months, and hopefully take only two. So I worked up a script for our payment mail timing I thought you folks would enjoy.

"Lump sums only go out in June of every year, and bulk mail, 3rd rate, so you're looking at a 2 month mailing time. And even then, they only go if there's a high tide during the new moon in June, otherwise the check date is deferred to the longest daylight-producing day of December. And then they're delivered by burro. Many burros die in the mountains. Your payment doesn't seem likely."
