UTMC mix-tape (CD) swap?

A forum for the off topic stuff. Everything from religion to philosophy to sex to humor (see why it used to be called Buggery?). All manner of rude psychological abuse is welcome and encouraged.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be awesome, I just don't have the hardware to participate. Not to mention that I am rarely in a place conducive to listening to a CD anymore, as even my commuting is typically on a bike (no idea whether or not the cd drive in my car is still functioning).

So the deal is 12 total people, each contributing a mix-tape one month for a year?

edit: if I can figure out a way to burn disks, I'll be in

I'll take December. With luck I'll still be working from home so I'll have some flexibility, and I think I still have a spool of CDs lying around.

Yeah, CDs are a bit anachronistic but having a "monthly playlist" somehow lacks... character?

I have decided to put down my smartphone and get on a DESKTOP.... just to throw my hat in the ring. Give me a month sometime after DOOM, cuz I wanna take "pitchers" at the Portal to use as my album artwork. It's gonna be edgy and shit... dig?

why not use a wetransfer link to upload a list of mp3 and artwork, each participant can decide if he wants to burn the mp3 on a cd or just download it on some device. links only stay up for 10 days so it has a "here and now" quality too.

I like the idea but I really struggle to find something to listen that is less than 20 years old, or it's electro and something tells me it'll just sound annoying to most people.

Isn't that part of the fun, sharing the tunes you like with people who may or may not like them? I personally plan on annoying people with a few songs I have a taste for. =]

Just chiming in here -- fuggit, I'm already thinking through songs so someone's getting CDs in December. Consider it my Chrismukah present to everybody. So far I have nine tracks identified ranging from Tom Leher to the Mexican Institute of Sound. ;)
