Update, 2020/12/01
Please see announcement in Forum Stuff for details.

SECURITY ADVISORY!
Today, 2020/11/18, suspicions have been expressed that there has been a data breach.
At least some DisMembers' login data may have been compromised.
While the facts behind those suspicions have not yet been established, your Administerrerr is treating them as credible. He is looking into this. He will try and beef up security.
Even if you did so only recently:
Please change your password!
Please click here, or use the menu ( button) to navigate to the the User Control Panel, therein to the Profile Tab, and there click Edit Account Settings. You should get it from there on.
For a safe password that will resist brute-force attempts (which we have been subject to in the past), please use upper and lower case letters, AND numerals, AND symbols, and make it as long as you feel feasible. 16 characters seems to be recommended these days.
DO NOT use a password you also use elsewhere.
While your Administerrerr tries to keep this place safe. Get real. Security here is mostly by obscurity, that is, no one serious enough to crack us like a rotten egg is likely to even bother. But if one does, you don't want the safety of your email of facebook or whatever to depend on one mostly blind, mostly clueless autodidact who can't work at this more than a few hours at a time, if that much.

If you used a password here that you also used elsewhere, you must set a new password there, also!
A different password, this time. If someone did breach us, the first thing they are likely to do with your login credentials is to try them out elsewhere. Login credentials compromised here are compromised everywhere else, also. If you did reuse a password, but with a different email, your administerrerrerr strongly urges you NOT rely on that different email keeping you safe. This whole thing runs on a database. That means your half-blind administerrerrerr can operate a database. Do you honestly think identity thieves, and those who sell them passwords by the ten-thousands, won't?
If you get an error message about an invalid form, click here.
Show
Every form you can debauch is on a time limit. Even if you feel you've been reasonably quick, some browsers seem to think otherwise.
Recommendation: type your password in something like a text editor or word processor, highlight (making sure not to highlight any leading or trailing spaces), copy, then reload the account settings page, paste, paste, debauch, and be all quick about it. Like Dan said, back in the when. Be like the housefly, and see the events of the world unfold in liquid slowness, or something to that effect.
*
If you cannot reset a forgotten password, click here.
Show
The "I forgot my password" function has been buggy for a while, I apologize. I will look into that, also, over the next few days.
UPDATE: I have looked into this. I think it should work now, but I can't test it all with my admin accounts. Anyone who tries it, please do let me know whether it works or not.
You yourself, meanwhile, might look into your SPAM folder. I know, I know, but humor me, please.
Also, if you have been around for a bit, try and remember whether the email you entered there was also the email you registered with back in the when. I'm sure the email addresses associated to some user-accounts are still hotmail.
If none of that solves your confound, hit me through the contact form, or grab me via dm on the Facebooks, or if none of that works, speak up in the Midget Circus. I will look out for you there, but I can't guarantee nothing.

Raise your hand if you wanted to see the workshop Millyard and John Britton would build together if given the chance??

Is raising a finger enough?

Everyone raise your hand if you are not just delighted, but somehow relieved, that his workshop has wood furniture, tools that look like they have served in many hands, there is the natural level of workshop patina on stuff. It doesn't look like a NASA facility, like modern motorsports outfits. And more like the kind of shop where George Brough or Edward Turner might have fettled and fabricobbled in their day.

Not that I'm opposed to the NASA style workshop.
It's just not so nice.
In the NASA shop, it looks like that, if a problem comes up. Just throw money at it! At least that's how that comes across to me. And had I the money an could still ride, it's probably how I'd solve problems, because I'm a lazy tit (like I said, if I had the money), and because that's how German engineers like to solve problems. Put more parts in, or more fabrication steps. It's also how they solve stuff that works, without problems. Add more parts or fabrication steps. It's really the distilled spirit of German engineering. More parts, more fabrication steps! When a product it so loaded down, they can't add anything anymore without rendering unusable, or unsellable at least, German engineer sad.

The sort of shop we see in the video, meanwhile. That's the shop of someone who, when a problem comes up, thinks Hm, I wonder if I could do away with that bit there entirely, let's see if that works.

Another one who seems to subscribe to the same workshop aesthetic is Adam Savage, late of Mythbusters fame. His youtube and insta channel shows him putting around his space not unlike Grand Meister J May but with a more, let's say active, sense of purpose. But definitely deeply ensconced by his well worn and often improvised tools.
I grew up watching Norm Peterson in the 2nd generation of This Old House and the New Yankee Workshop and not unlike the NASA lab you mentioned, I always hated how his workshop was just so tidy. Yes we should all aspire to be so organized, but at the same time it was just so sterile, so lacking in character.

edit: Norm Abrams, sorry. Norm Peterson was from Cheers, probably not much of tinkerer.

It’s sad that very few old farm & yard implements made their way down south, seems like up in New England and upper Midwest states these things are in every barn. I would love to have an old gas powered reel mower but don’t fancy driving 1000 miles to get one.

So what does The Master do?

But you're not Allen Millyard fabricating a new sprocket for your home-made KZ-six from one leftover from high-speed runs on your homemade Dodge Viper bike since 200 mph is really fast enough for that cool.

For another glimpse in to incredible one-off custom fabrication and cheeky British "humour", I would solidly recommend the Project Binky series from Bad Obsession Motorsports. While not motorcycle related, it is racing cars and simply incredibly well done in every aspect. There are currently 31 episodes spanning almost 6 years and it is still not finished.

Every time a new episode of Project Binky comes out, it brings a smile to my face.
Basically, with the amount of effort they are putting in to make everything just right.
They're not so much modifying a Mini. In that they are building a new car, and some bits of the Mini's body happen to be among the many components they use.

Tennessee. I'm not sure welders are welcome there, or ar they? I think over there, they prefer threaded bolts and nuts and things, don't they? I'm sure I've heard of some famous thing there, a "Tennessee stud".
