Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Friend of mine is enjoying a particularly nasty visit of the red fairy.
So, just for hits and shiggles, while trying to distract her a little over jabber, I just installed an app on my phone that'll tell whenever she's about due.

Now that I've finally bit the bullet and got me a proper smartphone, one with some serious oomph, I'm digging that there's an app for that.
If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

Totally random and tangential question for you DerGolgo unrelated to your post which I quoted, but is there a German word for friend zone?

Just got some really shitty news about one of my closest friends and contemplating the rampant injustices of the world. Its not death or illness, and its not my place to go into details that aren't my own to share, but its fucking gorram shitty bullshit that's immeasurably fucked up my friend's life and the lives all the people he is close to: wife, kids, friends. And it affects me greatly, as he's one of my best friends who has been of immeasurable help and support the past few years, and now he won't be around. I'm bouncing between anger at the senseless injustice bullshit, deep sympathy for its affect on him and his wife, and guilt-ridden panic over what it means to me to not have him around. And here I am spewing into the UTMC technoether because there are few other outlets, though I'm pretty sure this is not a good or helpful or sympathetic place for it. Fuck. Just --- Fuck.

Thanks @wyckedsin and @jaeger ... we're coping and I've been able to check in with his wife, she's doing ok. She has a good support system of friends and we'll all get through it somehow, but it just sucks that we have to.

In other news, I actually went for a brief ride today. Hoping to go for a much longer ride next week. And one of my employees just learned I ride a motorcycle and was duly impressed. I get the "badass cool boss" award for the day. Yay me!

4 day weekend!! I got up late at 5am. Presently drinking coffe and hanging out with baby pygmie goats. On the agenda for the weekend: today clean, balance & rejet the rex carbs for colorado, go for (acoustic) bike ride. Tomorrow: coffee, early am bike ride with sis & brother in law, catch the tractor pulls & antique tractor show at my 'lil towns 4th of July festival then to a friend's barbecue/blow shit up party. Saturday bike ride then a long moto ride with pops and brotber-in-law. Sunday: bike ride then lament the impending work week. Did I mention that I'm riding the shit out of a new bicycle? Also my ass hurts.

Oh, that sounds so familiar. Dunno whether it's depression for you guys, but for me, SRIs did pretty much nothing. Bupropion works a lot better. Not perfect, but something, at least.

Quittin meds that kept me in a reasonably positive frame of mind is 80% of what led to all that crap while i was gone from here. If you're depressed regularly or occassionally but bad don't let that shit slide. Diet, exercise & life details matter a lot for me too. Everone's different but if those of us prone to depression don't usually figure out a (good) solution on our own.

And I just got home from putting in another six hours at the salt mine. A 6" water main broke adjacent to my site, and I had to get out there, shut the main off, set up numerous water pumps, and run a bull dozer around to scrape the mud off the upper surface above the foundation excavations. I am having that stiff drink now.
