As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.

fun stuff.
i helped bear (jr_bear on here, i think) out with his Cort the other day. single humbucker, bolt on, double cutaway.
got it set up, checked the electrics, lowered the action about 6 miles, new strings. it was fun and not in very bad shape at all.

also, got a crybaby mini wah for xmas. i'm a rock god now.
Good on ya, Thack!

The only wah I have is broken, but it's a Thomas Organ Company Crybaby from the early 70s. It matches the broken Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Face from the same period.

Just got back from seeing Episode 7 for the first time. Whole family waited until today (successfully avoiding spoilers) do we could make the drive to see it on IMax. Worth the wait, plot twists have my 9yo conflicted. My opinion is they did a good job but the a lot of stuff in one episode.

How is the IMax in Tulsa? We went the other direction on 44 through the floodwaters to Springfield.

CROWDED! We were in the back row, probably in a nodal point, so there was a preponderance of low mids around 100Hz.

LOL!
We got there an hour early and were smack in the middle. It was glorious.
Fully packed house though,. No empty seats in a room for 300.

I got "deep" into my guitar (for me) last night in finally using the adjustable bridge to correct the intonation. I've got an Epiphone ES339 that I've had since July and am finally trying to teach myself a little bit about playing. It's a blast so far, but much like getting into motorcycles for the first time, I'm fighting a very strong urge to pull the thing entirely apart just so I can see how it all works and fits together. After watching a little bit on youtube I'm leaning more toward picking up a $50 Squire to try and build it into something respectable rather than potentially mess up the perfectly decent guitar I can actually practice on.

i was talking to bear about this - have you had one of those yet? i'm always worried about necks from turbo-affordable places. i see $35 necks on ebay/amazon, and i think, wow, what's /that/ got to be like. i mean, bodies, i can fix those, i have tools and glue. but necks? that's still a bit of magic.

also, check your PM.

I went to bed pretty late last night, finishing a project.
Wake up, hey, nice sleep, and the alarm hasn't even gone off! I wonder what time it is ... why can't I see the nice, big, green seven-digit LED numerals of my radio-alarm-clock? Let's have some light ... why won't the light turn on?! WHAT TIME IS IT?!?!
8 AM. Phew, only an hour later than the alarm should have woken me, an hour to get ready before heading to work. All is well.
Put on bathrobe and shoes and head to the circuit breakers in the hallway.
Flip.
ZZRRAP. Clunk.
Go back into the apartment and unplug every damn thing on that circuit.
Flip.
Good.
Plug stuff in, everything works, heheay! Even got enough time to check email and things before heading out ... why isn't the red light coming on when I press the power button on my most prized possession, my desktop computer?
Had to dig out my tablet to write an email to my lawyer I had to get out today, go to work.
Against all odds, I got to fuck off home early, reduce my overtime account. Unplug computer, clean the damn thing (ahem ...) put in bag, hop in taxi, hit the nearest computer hardware store as much as an hour before they close. Have my diagnosis of fritzed power supply confirmed, buy a new one, hear home.
Strip the heads of the screws holding in the old power supply, curse at a crafty assembly person using the graphics card to hold the CPU power cable in place, spend nearly an hour wiring everything up to speck and making things all neat and tidy.
Because of the crowded conditions in the case, the power cables for some of the four harddrives I have in there would, eventually, always come off, so I hadn't even kept the side cover on the case anymore.
But now, determined I had done nothing wrong, had connected all the fans and whatnot perfectly, I put it together as one piece and bolted the covers in place. Then, put the machine in the corner in which it resides, plugged everything in at once and hit the power button.
Sod's law tells us that, at this point, it should either not have worked or, later, something should have failed to come on. A harddrive, a fan, something.
Nope. Working perfectly.
The fritzed display on my SMOKtech xCubeII box-mod that had annoyed and frustrated and inconvenienced me all day also came back to live, I managed to fix the air-leak on my Hypersquonk bottom-feeder tank, the new acrylic tank-window seems to withstand the juices I use and that will crack ANY polycarbonate withing days.
After my boss had told me I could fuck off early, even though I had explained to her in great detail how it is a not a life-or-death matter for me to hit the computer store, this is really damn weird.
Maybe it's a good sign for the project I mentioned.
If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

There's a certain charitable feeling knowing that we will be doing our part to keep the doctor's children in private school, and most likely helping with boat payments.

Just got home. Sitting down, frustimicated.

Damn flaky, overinflated Craigslist sellers. I need a car stat gawdemmit!

Went for a walk to get more water and some tea at Starfucks (first time ever at this one by my house. I'm not a coffee drinker) and ran into one of the super cute ballet dancers from the Nutcracker production we just wrapped there. Damn she's cute (and fit; thank you yoga pants inventor).... but probably half my age.

Just got a DVD in the mail for a movie I've been waiting for that has never been on DVD until just recently. Coincidentally, my laptop battery just took a crap and it won't turn on..... and that's the only DVD player I have. :(

Hey, a super-cute ballet dancer with a yoga-pants-clad ass can compensate for a lot of misery. Even a busted laptop.

No car? You bike-only right now? Oh to be in CA where you can ride year round... (It'll be 22dF here tomorrow night. Winter finally showed the fuck up.)

No wheels at all in L.A. would be awkward. Good luck. (And yeah, she'd be a mood lifter, no question, especially in yoga pants.)

Wouldn't bike be cheaper? If you gotta haul stuff then I can see the problem, but... if it's just a function of finding quick and cheap transportation, bikes are better (at least where you are).
